What is the Exos PROTECT EP2U24?

The Seagate® Exos® PROTECT EP2U24 is a petabyte-scale, rack-mounted storage system that provides low latency block and file access, accelerated system performance, data protection options and advanced software features.

Optimized performance and versatility. This is the ideal solution for customers who need high-capacity storage and the utmost in low latency and high performance, leading scalability, versatile connectivity and high availability. The Seagate Exos PROTECT EP2U24 advanced storage array delivers a value-rich solution for applications that require performance, low latency, and dual-controller availability.

It features advanced distributed autonomic protection technology (ADAPT) data protection and a full enterprise software stack, including virtual pools, thin provisioning, SSD read cache, encryption, auto-tiering, Snapshots and asynchronous replication.

High capacity. Small footprint. Save space with up to 24 small form factor SSDs and/or hard drives, and dual controllers all in a 2U rack mount enclosure. Connect up to nine expansion enclosures for a maximum of 240 drives.

Why choose the EP2U24 for low-latency block and file access?

The performance-oriented member of the PROTECT family — 24 small form factor bays for IOPS density in 2U.

Optimized Performance and Versatility

The ideal solution for customers who need high-capacity storage and the utmost in low latency and high performance, leading scalability, versatile connectivity and high availability.

Enterprise-Grade Platform

Offers primary storage for enterprise customers seeking quick, low latency performance in storage networks and direct storage applications, with a 7th generation-based controller architecture.

High Capacity, Small Footprint

The ideal storage solution for workflows that need larger performance-oriented data storage and good space utilization with modern data protection technology.

Which enterprise software features ship with the EP2U24?

The same full enterprise software stack ships across every PROTECT array — the difference between models is density, not capability.

Pools & Provisioning

Virtual or linear pools with thin provisioning, so capacity is allocated as it is consumed rather than reserved up front.

SSD Read Cache & Auto-Tiering

Optional auto-tiering and SSD read cache place hot data on flash automatically, without changing how applications address the volume.

Snapshots & Replication

Snapshots and asynchronous replication give you point-in-time recovery locally and a copy of record off-array.

ADAPT, RAID & Encryption

Improved ADAPT, NRAID and RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10, with drive-level encryption for data at rest.

How much IOPS density do 24 small form factor bays give in 2U?

Flexible hard drive configurations for a limited budget, and hybrid flash configuration options offering multi-core processing and fast streaming.
